Ingredients
Ingredients are the building blocks of your dishes — flour, mozzarella, onion, and so on. You manage them once in a catalog, attach them to dishes in the order guests should read them, and Eighty-Six can derive allergen labels from those attachments. Later, premium stock can track on-hand quantities for the same ingredients.
What you get
Section titled “What you get”- A catalog of ingredients for your restaurant, plus a platform library of common items you can reuse.
- Attach to dishes with display order, optional, and removable flags for kitchen and guest clarity.
- Allergen derivation — when an ingredient carries EU allergen numbers, dishes that use it pick up those allergen labels automatically (alongside any labels you set by hand).
- Public display modes on the menu page settings: hide ingredients, show them instead of the dish description, or show both.
Open the ingredients page
Section titled “Open the ingredients page”- Sign in to the CRM and select your restaurant.
- In the left sidebar, open Menu.
- Open Ingredients (catalog / manage ingredients).
From here you can create restaurant-owned ingredients, edit names, and manage which EU allergens each ingredient carries. Platform ingredients appear in the shared library; you can still attach them to dishes without copying them first.
Attach ingredients to a dish
Section titled “Attach ingredients to a dish”- Open Menu and edit the dish (or use the dish ingredients UI on the menu builder).
- Add ingredients from your catalog or the platform library.
- Drag or reorder so the list matches how you want guests (and the kitchen) to read it.
- Mark ingredients optional or removable when that matches how the dish is sold.
- Save the dish.
Allergens derived from ingredients show on the dish alongside any labels you assigned manually. Derivation adds to manual labels; it does not wipe custom tags you chose yourself.
How guests see ingredients
Section titled “How guests see ingredients”On your booking-page Menu settings, choose an ingredients display mode for the public menu:
| Mode | Guest experience |
|---|---|
| None (default) | Description only; ingredient list hidden. |
| Replace | Ingredient list instead of the description when the dish has at least one ingredient. |
| Both | Description first, then the ingredient list on its own line. |
Derived allergen labels always follow the usual public label display rules.
Stock (premium)
Section titled “Stock (premium)”If your plan includes ingredient stock (suppliers_stock), you can track on-hand quantities and let orders deduct stock automatically. Configure tracking per ingredient, then use the stock page for restock and recount. See Ingredient stock.
